Tyson Holm (GCSAA), Golf Course Superintendent

Tyson Holm was born and raised on the family farm in rural Gothenburg, Nebraska.  Raising corn, alfalfa and cattle kept him busy until he took off to college.  Directly after high school he took part in a special program with John Deere, to put him through schooling and training towards repairs and maintenance in Agriculture Equipment and diesel mechanic skills. Tyson then changed gears to get involved in turf grass and plant science earning a degree in Horticulture.   While in college working summers and weekends at Firethorn Golf Club in Lincoln, Nebraska, Tyson learned the basics of golf course management.  Tyson’s success while in school awarded him an opportunity to join an elite team at Walt Disney World Wide World of Sports in Orlando, Florida.  While as an intern, this prestigious property hosted the Atlanta Braves spring training games and NFL athletes came to train for the upcoming season.  2003 brought Tyson to Monterey, California as an Assistant Golf Course Superintendent at Quail Lodge Resort and Golf Course.  In 2006, he became Assistant Superintendent with PGA West Nicklaus Private Course, host site for member events and Bob Hope Chrysler Classic and Humana tournaments for the PGA Tour.  After 2 years of proven success at PGA West, he earned the promotion of Superintendent of PGA West Norman Golf Course catering events such as GCSAA National Championship, Golf Channel Tour National Championship, and PGA Tour Q-school qualifier.  Tyson joined the Avondale team in the summer 2014.  He enjoys meeting the members and continuing to make this the best golf course in the Valley.
